Dumbarton are back at the Marbill Coaches Stadium tomorrow afternoon as they welcome League One leaders Cove Rangers to the Rock [please note the earlier kick-off time of 2:00pm].
Sons picked up their first three points of the season at Arbroath a fortnight ago and backed that up with a victory against Inverness Caledonian Thistle last weekend, winning both matches 3-1.
Tomorrow’s visitors currently sit on top of the league table in a tightly packed division with a win for Dumbarton taking them just two points behind Paul Hartley’s side.
The Toonsers have been in impressive form in the last three weeks themselves, recording 2-0 victories against Alloa Athletic, Queen of the South and Montrose to propel them to the summit.
The sides have met once this season with an added-time header from Mark Durnan earning Sons a point at the Balmoral Stadium on match day 3.
Boss Stevie Farrell knows the challenge his troops face tomorrow but hopes their recent performances at both ends of the park can give them plenty of encouragement.
Speaking to the clubs website, he said: “We were excellent from start to finish last week and the only disappointing thing in the whole day was the goal we conceded from the corner.
“The performance going up the pitch and our structure was very good. As a Dumbarton fan it must be magnificent to watch because we look a goal threat and we’re scoring goals.
“In the early part of the season we worked on how good we were going forward but over the last two or three weeks we’ve been looking for that balance on the training pitch.
“The boys are working really hard, but we’ll not get carried away. We’ve had two brilliant results to put us back in the pack.
“Cove have proved what a few good results in a row can do for you as this division is so competitive with every team taking points from each other and we will need to show all of the same qualities we have shown in recent weeks. If we can do that, we have a great chance of a successful outcome.”
The Sons manager will be without Carlo Pignatiello who required stitches in his foot following last weeks win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
