cinch League Two action returns tomorrow afternoon when Dumbarton welcome Bonnyrigg Rose to the Rock [kick-off 3.00pm].
Scottish Cup duty took centre stage last weekend with both sides putting their name in the hat of the third round of the competition after wins over Highland League opposition.
Sons came from 2-0 down to beat Banks O’Dee in an action packed game, whilst Rose needed extra-time to squeeze past Fraserburgh thanks to a 2-1 victory.
Boss Stevie Farrell, who takes part in a meet the manager session at the Dumbarton Football Stadium this evening, hopes his side can build on the character shown in their cup progression.
He told the clubs website: “I said to the players last week that if we’re going to be successful this year then what we showed in the second half against Banks O’Dee, you need to have that in your locker.
“It would have been easy for them to throw the towel in but they never. There’s something in that dressing room this year.
“We are pretty familiar with Bonnyrigg this season having come up against them twice already but we are yet to be on the winning side after 90 minutes despite feeling we played relatively well in both of those fixtures, so that side of our game will need to change.
“However, as has been the case for much of this season, if we put in the performance that we know we are capable of and find that finishing touch in front of goal, then we will give ourselves an excellent chance of getting the outcome we are after.”
In team news, Faz will be without Greig Young, Callum Wilson, David Wilson and Mark Durnan. James Hilton will go through a fitness test ahead of kick-off.
Tomorrow is set to be the second league meeting between the sides this season, though they have already met on two occasions in the 2023/24 campaign.
Sons earned a bonus point in the Viaplay Cup after a 0-0 draw in G82 back in July, whilst the league season kicked off at New Dundas Park a month later where Ryan Blair’s opener was cancelled out by Luke Mahady to earn the hosts a share of the spoils.
