MATCH PREVIEW: DUMBARTON VS ALLOA ATHLETIC
It’s Friday Night Football at the Marbill Coaches Stadium as Dumbarton host Alloa Athletic in a Scottish Gas Scottish Cup tie [kick-off 7:45pm].
The sides get the third round of the competition under way at the Rock this evening after the disappointment of last weeks reverse fixture in the league at the Indordrill Stadium being postponed.
Sons boss Stevie Farrell was keen for his troops to keep the momentum going and hopes they can pick up where they left off.
Speaking to the clubs website, he said: “The call off last week was frustrating for a number of reasons, most notably because we had a really good result and performance against Queen of the South prior to that which we were looking to build on.
“What it does mean is that we have been able to get a good couple of sessions together as a team which has been important with every going on.
“We got what we deserved against Queen of the South and that hasn’t necessarily been the case in every game we’ve played this season, so we know we need to be at our best if we want to progress to the next round.
“The support from the fans in the last couple of weeks has been outstanding and it would be brilliant to see a packed out stadium this evening to help the team into the next round of the Scottish Cup.”
In team news, Farrell reports Matty Shiels has returned to training this week but won’t be considered this evening. Michael Miller is suspended following a red card for Broomhill in last seasons competition.
