Dumbarton play their final home match of their Premier Sports Cup Group A campaign tomorrow as Airdrieonians visit the Marbill Coaches Stadium [kick-off 3:00pm].
Sons have put just one point on the board in the competition so far after drawing with East Kilbride last weekend before losing a penalty shoot-out for a bonus point which was followed up with a 2-0 defeat against Queen of the South on Tuesday.
The Diamonds, meanwhile, come into the match in fine form having hit East Kilbride for eight on Tuesday in their first match of the group stages.
Despite his side not having much to show for their efforts, boss Stevie Farrell has been pleased with his sides performances so far.
Speaking to the clubs website, he said: “We probably should have scored a few goals against East Kilbride to win the game in 90-minutes and we performed well for a large part of the game on Tuesday.
“There were chances for us to equalise before we gave away a soft goal but that can happen at this stage of the season and it’s all about just ironing out those little aspects of the performances.
“Airdrie’s scoreline on Tuesday speaks for itself and is a remarkable feat at any level of football so we know what we are up against, but we’ll look to approach the game in a positive manner and if we can sharpen up in both boxes then we have a great chance.”
Farrell reports that Tony Wallace is suspended for tomorrow having been booked in both Premier Sports Cup ties so far whilst Cameron Clark will miss out through injury, though his absence is not thought to be long-term.
