MATCH PREVIEW: COVE RANGERS VS DUMBARTON
Dumbarton are back on the road tomorrow with another journey north for match day 3 in William Hill League One, and a visit to the Balmoral Stadium where Cove Rangers await [kick-off 3:00pm].
It’s been a solid start to life in League One so far for the Sons with two points from the opening two games after earning draws against Inverness CT and Alloa Athletic.
The hosts, meanwhile, are looking to put their first points on the board after defeats against Annan Athletic and Queen of the South.
Boss Stevie Farrell insists it’s far too early to be reading early season form and looking at league tables as he urged his troops to build on their four goals against Berwick during the week.
Speaking to the clubs website, he said: “What we have shown from our first couple of games in League One is that we are more than capable of competing at this level having earned draws against two very good sides.
“The exciting thing for us is that we still feel there is more to come from this group of players and if we can continue to tighten up in both boxes then the first league victory won’t be far away.
“We were impressive against Berwick in the SPFL Trust Trophy during the week and I hope the players can take confidence from that.
“Cove have an excellent side and have been slightly unlucky in their opening couple of games. If we aren’t at it then we will be punished.”
In team news, the game comes just a little too early for Joel Mumbongo who picked up a knock in the warm-up on Tuesday night. Jacob Shields from the clubs under-20’s has been added to the match day squad after an eye-catching cameo against Berwick.
