The cinch League Two season kicks off tomorrow with Dumbarton set for a trip to the capital where Bonnyrigg Rose await.
The new season brings hope and optimism from supporters up and down the country with Sons looking to go one better than last season.
Rose narrowly beat the drop in the 2022/23 campaign, beating Elgin City on the final day to confirm their survival, and will be hoping for a more comfortable season themselves.
For boss Stevie Farrell, however, the attention is solely on tomorrow and not final league placings in May.
He said: “The first league game of the season is always an exciting event and we can’t wait to get started.
“Fans across the country will be praying and believing that this will be their teams year and we know Dumbarton fans will be no different.
“Pre-season and the Viaplay Cup has been interesting for us as we look to adapt to a new style of play but we have put in a number of decent performances and believe we are in good shape.
“Despite having the upper hand over Bonnyrigg last season, they were always close affairs and tomorrow will be no different. We need to be at our best to ensure we get off to a positive start.”
The Sons boss will be without Blair Malcolm tomorrow through suspension whilst Callum Wilson, Kalvin Orsi and Declan Byrne miss out through injury. Ryan Wallace is on his honeymoon.
Faz is, however, working to add to his squad ahead of tomorrows game – keep an eye on our social channels and website for the latest news.
Sons won three out of four meetings against the Rosey Posey last season and gained a penalty shoot-out victory in the Viaplay Cup just a fortnight ago.
It was the only point Bonnyrigg took from their group stage campaign, though only lost by the odd goal in their three other group games.
Sons fans travelling to New Dundas Park tomorrow should be made aware entry is pay at the gate through turnstile D. Cash and card payment is available.
