Dumbarton complete their Premier Sports Cup campaign tomorrow with a trip to Pittodrie to take on Aberdeen [kick-off 3:00pm].
Sons are unable to qualify from Group A having picked up one point from their three games so far whilst the Dons will be looking to secure top spot and qualify for the last-16 with victory in the Granite City, though just one point would be enough.
Despite one draw and two defeats from the group stage section, boss Stevie Farrell has been encouraged – though insists his side do need to tighten up at both ends of the park.
Speaking to the clubs website, he said: “It’s been a tough campaign for us in terms of results although we probably deserve to have more to show for our efforts.
“We have played well for different lengths of periods in each game and it’s all about putting those spells into 90-minute periods but we’re at that stage of the season where that is to be expected.
“It’s obviously going to be very tough tomorrow against a side full of international players and a new manager in the dugout with fresh ideas but we’ll be going there full of hope and looking to approach the game in the same positive manner
“If we can tighten up defensively and take our chances that come our way, which they will, then who knows what can happen.”
In team news, Cammy Clark and Tony Wallace return from injury and suspension respectively whilst Joel Mumbongo is added to the squad following the announcement of his signing yesterday evening. David Wilson will miss out with a slight strain that will not be risked.
