SONS boss Ian Murray is looking to finish as high as possible in the SPFL Championship but admits that Sons are underdogs for a play-off spot.
Dumbarton clinched a vital victory against Alloa Athletic yesterday with the 4-1 win putting the Sons just 3 points behind Queen of the South.
The Palmerston club have a game in hand against Raith Rovers and Murray is aware that reaching 4th in the division wil be difficult.
He said : It’s fair to say that we’ve got an outside chance of getting to the play-offs.
“The win yesterday pretty much means that we’ll be playing Championship football again next season although the arithmetic suggests that Cowden could still catch us.
“I said at the start of the season that we were good enough to stay in the league and now we’re looking up rather than down.
“We play Queen of the South in two weeks and the match will have meaning.”
Sons next oppoents are Raith Rovers at Starks Park on 12th April. Kick-off 3pm.
