LEAGUE WOE CONTINUES

Saturday 27th March 2021

DUMBARTON suffered another 1-0 defeat at the hands of Peterhead at the C & G Systems Stadium to remain in the bottom three of League One.

Sons took the field with Morton loanee Rabin Omar making his debut in midfield, and Morgyn Neill and Sam Wardrop both making their 50th appearances. Ex-Son Ben Armour was in the Blue Toon line-up, with another ex-Sons striker, Isaac Layne, on the bench.

Nick McAllister and Adam Frizzell had early chances and keeper Chris Smith was rarely tested in a very even contest — reflected in a 0-0 scoreline at half-time.

After five minutes of the second period a Ross Forbes free kick went over the bar, but two minutes later Armour opened the scoring for the visitors.

Soon after manager Jim Duffy made a doubles substitution, Morton loanee James Wallace on debut and PJ Crossan replacing Frizzell and McAllister. The 68th minute saw another double substitution, with Robert Jones and Conner Duthie replacing Jaime Wilson and Omar.

With ten minutes left fine play from Wallace made space for Crossan, but he was fouled. A minute later Ruaridh Langan came on for skipper Stuart Carswell. But he could not make the difference before the final whistle.
