LEAGUE SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE

Friday 29th April 2022

DUMBARTON’S cinch League One season – but of course not the season altogether – concludes tomorrow with a home game against Clyde.

The match at Dumbarton Football Stadium is the last outing before the playoffs which Sons must win to secure their place in the third tier.

They are unbeaten against Clyde this season and despite the game having little at stake, gaffer Stevie Farrell wants to retain that record.

However, while Dumbarton’s league position cannot change whatever the result, the visitors have something at stake, and that is something the manager wants to guard against.

He said: “Clyde could, at least theoretically, finish two places higher than they are now, and they will be looking to do that and boost themselves ahead of next season.

“Although even victory will not change our league position, I am looking for a result which will boost us as we head into the playoffs.

“This is our last chance, ahead of those playoffs, to show why we should be fancied to win them, and one that I want us to make the most of.

“It would be great to be heading into them off the back of a good result, and it would give us something to cheer at the Sonstrust awards night as well.”

Ryan McGeever is the only player injured ahead of tomorrow’s game. Joe McKee was absent from the squad at Cove last week but is available tomorrow.

If you can’t make the game tomorrow, then live streaming is available.

We will also have in-play Twitter commentary on our feed @DumbartonFC.

Grant Irvine will referee tomorrow’s game, assisted by Calum Spence and Elliott Husband-Powton.
