LEAGUE ONE SURVIVAL SECURED DESPITE DEFEAT

Thursday 20th May 2021

DUMBARTON have confirmed their place in League One next season, beating Edinburgh City 3-2 on aggregate despite a 1-0 defeat on the night.

Fans were able to return to the C&G Systems Stadium for the game and certainly made themselves heard.

Playing with a strong wind behind them in the first half, Sons had most of the play but struggled to create many real chances.

The best one came right on the half time whistle, with Robert Jones shooting over from close range.

Seven minutes into the second half, City had the lead when Ouzy See headed home from a ball into the box.

Four minutes after that, they were reduced to 10 men when Liam Henderson picked up a second booking.

Manager Jim Duffy (pictured) was able to see his team ride the storm for the remainder of the night, confirming Sons’ place in the division.
