Dumbarton Football Club are excited to announce the launch of a ladies team ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The news was revealed at last nights open training session at the Dumbarton Football Stadium in which the players were invited out onto the pitch and welcomed to the club.

The team played under the Dumbarton United banner in the SWFL West last season, earning a seventh place in the division.

Speaking last night, club chairman Neil Mackay said: “We see this as another positive step when it comes to engaging with the local community and moving forward as a football club.

“We are really grateful to the hard work of everyone who made this happen, including Gordon Scanlan and Kenny McInnes.

“It’s vital that girls and women in the local area have the opportunity to play football from grassroots to the highest level and we are thrilled to welcome them to the DFC family.”

Kenny McInnes, DFC ladies coach, said: “We’re delighted to be offered the opportunity to come on board and represent Dumbarton Football Club.

“It’s a huge opportunity to raise the profile of girls and womens football in the local area.

“There are a large number of talented girls playing in the local area and we look forward to showcasing this under the DFC banner.”

The team will play their home fixtures at East End Park on a Sunday afternoon throughout the season.
