DUMBARTON have reached round three of the Scottish Cup after a workmanlike performance secured a 3-1 win over Cumnock at Townhead Park.
A Stuart Carswell penalty opened the scoring on 28 minutes after an elbowing offence in the box.
But the home side equalised five minutes into the second half when Ryan Carnwath finished off a dangerous ball across the area.
In tough conditions, Sons had to work hard to restore the lead, but did so with 13 minutes to go when Gregor Buchanan headed home.
And in the last minute, an outstanding piece of solo skill by Finlay Gray (pictured) sealed victory.
Our West of Scotland Premier Division opponents acquitted themselves very well tonight. We thank them for a challenging game and wish them every success for the season ahead.
Dumbarton return to league action next Saturday away to Annan Athletic.
