LATE GOAL EARNS THREE POINTS

Dumbarton made it three wins in a row with a narrow victory over East Fife this afternoon.

Sons were on top in the first-half with a smart one-handed save from Allan Fleming keeping out James Hilton’s free-kick.

After the break the visitors came close on a couple of occasions with a number of dangerous crosses into the box thankfully not taken by the Fifers attackers.

Boss Stevie Farrell made the bold call to make four changes midway through the half and another sub ten minutes later – with his decision paying off a few minutes from time.

One of his substitutes, Kalvin Orsi, battled to win a corner down the right and the resulting set-piece was taken by Ryan Wallace.

Sean Crighton met his delivery and, despite the best efforts of Fleming, his header found the net.

Even after picking up three points, Sons fall to second in cinch League Two after Bonnyrigg Rose moved to top spot after their comfortable win over Elgin City.

Attention next week turns to the SPFL Trust Trophy and the visit of Kelty Hearts in the first meeting between the sides.
