SONS and Raith Rovers’ request to have their end of season fixture kick-off time to a 3pm time slot, has been denied by the SPFL Board.
The decision was transmitted to DFC this morning meaning that the game on May 2nd will have a 12.15pm start.
Sons Chief Executive Gilbert Lawrie, speaking on behalf of DFC’s board of directors said: “It’s a disappointing outcome.
“Given that the game in question has no bearing on any of the play-off matches, we were hopeful that a 3pm kick-off would be allowed.
“12.15pm is not ideal for us given that we had a full hospitality day planned. In fact, it was to be one of our busiest days of the year as fans like to come along and celebrate the season’s end.
“As I said, we are very disappointed and we have again written to the SPFL, however we will now need to make arrangements based on the decision.”
Gilbert continued : “We are now contacting all our sponsors and hospitality guests to advise of possible alternative arrangements to their planned day.”
Speaking on behalf of the Sonstrust, Chairman Brian Payne added : “From a fans point of view, the 12.15pm kick-off is not ideal, especially given the nature of the game.
“Potentially it could have an affect on the attendance and I know already of quite a few fans who made arrangements for hospitality and will be reveiwing their position.
“This is to say nothing of any plans that supporters of Raith Rovers will have to make.”
