STRIKER Robert Jones will continue his Sons career beyond its short seven-game spell last season after signing a one-year deal.

The 6ft 6in striker arrived from Stranraer towards the end of the January transfer window and scored on his debut against East Fife.

That remains his only goal for the club to date, but he continued to offer a powerful threat in attack until the season was cut short.

Robert is currently outside the UK and so has not been able to get to the C&G Systems Stadium, but has completed all his paperwork electronically and his new deal is complete.

Manager Jim Duffy said: “The early end to last season meant Robert didn’t get much opportunity to show what he can do in a Dumbarton jersey.

“However, what he did, he did very well, and we saw enough to give him the option to sign with us again.

“We’re pleased he has taken up that option and he has an important role to play in the season ahead.”
