HIS first words after a stunning double to mark his debut?
“I’m delighted. I don’t score that often.”
Adam Frizzell could have fooled a lot of people at the C&G Systems Stadium this afternoon.
If his first goal for Dumbarton against Forfar Athletic was a fine finish after cutting in from the right, his second was glorious.
It was a bending shot from Joe McKee’s through ball, and realistically was the clincher in a 3-1 win for Sons.
And to round it all off, it was for what could in a sense be considered his local team.
Speaking to www.dumbartonfootballclub.com, Adam said: “To score two goals is a good start and that’s me set the standard. Hopefully I’m not expected to score twice every week but it was just my day today.
“Forfar scored early doors in the second half but I thought we reacted well to it and managed to shut them off.
“My dad Norrie lives in Balloch. I’ve had loan spells before which haven’t worked out so I’m hopeful coming here.”
Adam, who was also Sonstrust man of the match, is on loan from Kilmarnock. That alone will inevitably earn him comparisons with another player.
But in terms of goals scored after one game for Dumbarton, he has a 2-1 lead over Dom Thomas.
He continued: “As soon as I heard Dumbarton were interested I was straight on the phone to Dom. He said it would be a great club to go to and get games. He calls it Dom-Barton!
“It gives you a platform so I’m delighted to be here and hopefully get some games played.
“I’ll be dropping Dom a text tonight letting him know I’ve scored more on my debut than he did!
“I’ve only had one training session with Dumbarton but they’ve told me just to go out and play, so that is best for me.”
Despite playing in League One for the first time, Adam is in no doubt about Sons’ next test, away to Stranraer.
He added: “Every game in this league, every team in it is on an even playing field.
“But we go into every game confident and we will do that at Stranraer.”
