HOME DISAPPOINTMENT FOR SONS

Saturday 7th December 2013

DUMBARTON lost 1-0 to Queen of the South in a tough, physical game at the Bet Butler Stadium this afternoon.

Sons found themselves on the rack for most of the first half, as Queens broke at pace, hassled and harried, and generally outpaced their opponents.

The first (and winning) goal came, almost inevitably, from ex-Dumbarton man Iain Russell on 15 minutes.

Dumbarton came back into the game in the second half, with substitute Bryan Prunty coming close to equalising 12 minutes from the end.

However, the visitors held on to claim all three points and almost snatched a second goal when Sons ‘keeper Jamie Ewings was caught off his line in time added on.
