SATURDAY’S edition of the club’s matchday magazine, Sons View, could be one for programme collectors to target.
Although Dumbarton’s opponents Inverness CT have been in the former SFL (and current SPFL) setup since 1994, the clubs have never met in G82 – until this weekend.
There have only ever been two meetings of the clubs, both in the League Cup and both played at Inverness in midweek.
So the programme will be the first ever issued for a Sons home game against the Caley Jags, and is one that editor Graeme Robertson has enjoyed working on.
Graeme, who is in his 27th season as editor, said: “It might be a long time to do the programme, but the post is always offering new challenges – such as the first-ever one against Inverness CT.
“The team behind Sons View work hard to put every issue together, and this significant edition is no exception.
“It follows hard on the heels of our first-ever issue for a competitive match against Welsh opposition, which we sold at the Connah’s Quay Nomads game three weeks ago.
“We marked that with a victory on the pitch – and hopefully the team can do that on Saturday too.”
Now printed by Curtis Sport, the programme has proven very popular with home and away fans so far this season, regularly selling out on the day.
With that in mind, Graeme had some advice for supporters who are keen to purchase a copy of the historic Inverness CT edition this Saturday.
He added: “We try to order a print run for every game that ensures we sell out as close to kick-off as possible. Generally this has worked out very well.
“Saturday’s issue could be subject to interest from programme collectors with it being the first-ever Sons View against Inverness.
“So if you’re keen to pick up a copy, we’d advise that the earlier you get to the stadium, the better your chances.
“We’re confident this will be another successful edition – it’s issue eight and we’re not even finished September yet! We hope that the fans of both sides will enjoy reading it.”
