And Dumbarton fans have reacted with delight to the news that Stevie Aitken has agreed a new deal tying him to the club until at least the close season of 2019.
The Sons Supporters Trust said in a statement: “The news that Stevie has decided to continue his tenure as Dumbarton manager is a real positive for everybody at the club, including our fans.
“Nobody doubts that his ability as a manager will see him move up the ladder when the right opportunity comes along.
“The fact that Stevie views staying at Dumbarton as the best option for him at this moment in time says a lot about what the club has achieved, under his management and beforehand.
“Now the priority is to get a squad assembled which can keep us in the Championship and secure a SEVENTH consecutive season at that level.
“It’s one we’re certain Stevie will do to the best of his ability and we trust him completely.
“Good luck, Stevie. We’re with you all the way.”
