MANY congratulations to Dumbarton FC Poet in Residence Stephen Watt, who has just won the first ever Poetry and Penalties Cup.
Sons fans will know Stephen’s vital verses about our football fortunes from his regular feature (usually on page 7) of the Sons View matchday programme, produced for the Club by the Sonstrust.
Stephen stole the show at Stow on Saturday when his sonnets and scoring skills bagged the Poetry and Penalties prize promoted by Scottish charity Nil by Mouth.
The event is part of its campaign to celebrate the positives of Scottish football. It also promoted Mind The Time, a collection of 100 poems about the game which features Stephen’s work.
Profits from the publication are supporting the Football Memories project which works with people living with Alzheimer’s and dementia problems.
Well done from everyone at Dumbarton FC, Stephen!
Follow Stephen’s soccer stanza’s in this and every issue of the full colour Sons View, priced £2.50 and available at home games.
