HARD-WON DRAW FOR SONS

Saturday 31st January 2015

DUMBARTON secured an important point against form team Falkirk with a busy 3-3 away draw this afternoon.

Sons started strongly and went ahead on 19 minutes when Scott Taggart (pictured) struck home from close range.

Craig Sibbald equalised for the Bairns just two minutes later. The home side then began to apply real pressure and went ahead before the break from a Luke Leahy goal.

In the second half Sons continued their fightback but Falkirk still looked well in control much of the time.

However, the visitors were rewarded for persistence on 63 minutes when Darren Petrie claimed his first goal in a Dumbarton shirt with a firm strike past MacDonald.

On 71 minutes Sons went ahead thanks to Archie Campbell’s cracker.

It was set up for a tense finale when David Smith equalised on 80 minutes, but Sons hung on for a valuable point against an accomplished Falkirk side.
