HAPPY BIRTHDAY … TO US!

Saturday 23rd December 2017

IT’S a time for celebration at the YOUR Radio 103FM Stadium today, as Dumbarton FC celebrates a significant birthday!

The club is 145 years old today!

23rd December 1872 is when the club was firmly established and in doing so followed Queens Park, Kilmarnock and Stranraer to become Scotland’s fourth oldest professional team.

And what a history we have!

In the early days of the Scottish league, DFC were one of the most successful of the nineteenth century, winning the Scottish Football League in the first two seasons of the competition (the first jointly with Rangers).

The club were the first team (and one of only two) to win at least one league title in each of the four tiers in the Scottish league system.

Before moving to our home at the now named YOUR Radio 103FM Stadium, Boghead Park was our ‘place of work’ – and from 1879 until the end of the 1999/2000 season – a period of 121 years and is currently the longest a senior Scottish club has stayed at the same ground.

The Countdown to 150 is on ….
