DUMBARTON have completed a deal for the full season for goalkeeper Chris Smith, who previously turned out for the club in season 2018/19.

The 34-year-old played 10 games for Sons in that campaign when he was on loan from East Kilbride, with his debut coming in Jim Duffy’s first game as manager, a 4-0 win at home to East Fife.

He played 11 games for Annan Athletic last season, operating under coaching from Dumbarton’s new goalkeeper coach, Robert Glen.

Chris started his career with St Mirren, for whom he played nearly 100 games. After that he moved on to Dunfermline Athletic and also turned out for Stirling Albion and Stenhousemuir.

He will be available for tomorrow night’s opening Betfred Cup tie against Dunfermline.

Manager Jim Duffy said: “Chris has been training with us and I know from his previous spell with us what he is capable of.

“His arrival means we have two goalkeepers on board, which is important. We look forward to seeing the competition between him and Kevin Dabrowski for the starting gloves.”

Chris’ home and away shirts are available to sponsor at £100 per shirt. To sponsor, contact us at office@dumbartonfc.co.uk or on 01389 762569 during office hours – Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9.30am to 1.30pm.
