GOALKEEPER Patrick O’Neil, who has been a trialist for Dumbarton in the last three games, has now signed for the club until the end of the season.
With goalkeeper Calum Erskine out injured, Sons have needed cover in the goalkeeping department and have turned to the former Brechin City number one.
The 29-year-old had been at Glebe Park since 2014 but left at the end of last season. He has been part of the Dumbarton squad for the games against Queen’s Park, Cove Rangers and Montrose on a trial basis.
Paperwork has now been completed and he will be able to be named on the teamsheet for our next game against East Fife.
Manager Stevie Farrell said: “Calum Erskine’s injury continues to rule him out of action and, with rules on trialists being what they are, we had to make a decision on Patrick.
“He’s enjoyed working with Sam Ramsbottom and our goalkeeping coach Eric Phillips, and he’s an important addition to our squad.”
