GOAL 1000 – SCORED BY BOOMER!

Tuesday 14th November 2017

CHRIS McLAUGHLIN’S opening goal in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Raith Rovers was the 1000th goal scored at what is now the YOUR Radio 103FM Stadium.

Since the Irn Bru Cup quarter final, extensive research has taken place to verify who has the honour of reaching the milestone.

And the 1000th goal has been scored by a Dumbarton player, with the sequence having started nearly 17 years ago when Paddy Flannery scored the stadium’s first ever goal.

Club historian Jim McAllister said: “There has been some rigorous research done to ensure we have given the accolade to the right man.

“But myself and two other sources are now satisfied that the milestone was reached by Chris.

“And what a time to do it – in the process of helping the club reach its first national cup semi-final for 42 seasons!

“Many congratulations to Chris and all those who have contributed to the stadium’s first thousand goals.”
