DEFENDER George Stanger, a New Zealand youth international, has today joined Dumbarton loan from Stirling University for the rest of the current season.
Having started his professional career with Hamilton Accies in 2018, George had loan spells from New Douglas Park to Stirling Albion, East Kilbride and Forfar Athletic.
He left the Accies in October 2021, and has been playing for the University side since then.
George is the son of ex-Scotland rugby union international Tony Stanger and qualifies for New Zealand on his mother’s side of the family.
He turned out for New Zealand at the delayed 2020 Olympic Games, where they reached the quarter finals only to lose to Japan on penalties.
Manager Stevie Farrell said: “George is only 21 and has a lot of time on his side to progress further in the game.
“We’re delighted to have him on board and he gives us another option in defence as we enter the business end of the season.”
