DUMBARTON rounded off their pre-season campaign for 2015/16 with a 2-1 victory over Clydebank yesterday, and manager Stevie Aitken has claimed his side are ready for the battle ahead.
Goals from Gregor Buchanan and Garry Fleming gave Sons the victory over their local rivals, despite falling a goal behind early on in the game.
Speaking after the match, Stevie said: “There’s a lot of work ahead, but we’ll be ready for the season.
“The games have been fine in terms of I’m getting to know the players more, the way they play and their strengths and weaknesses.
“We’ve gathered a lot of information in the last few weeks and I’ll take that going forward.”
The manager went on to claim he is glad that the pre-season schedule is almost over, and is looking forward to the competitive matches beginning.
“The players have been great and they’ve trained well, and the games have been useful,” he said.
“But what we’re really wanting is the real stuff to start. And it will all start on Saturday with the friendlies out the road.”
