GAFFER’S FIRST SIGNING

Saturday 22nd December 2012

GAFFER Ian Murray’s disappointment at today’s match cancellation was tempered a little with the news that his first signing target had agreed terms to join the club.

Striker Marc McCusker comes on board to the end of the current season and both he and Murray are delighted to have concluded a deal.

Ian Murray said: “It’s an early Christmas present for me and having Marc on board gives me options.”

McCusker, who is a former Hearts youth player, has played for Stranraer, Clyde, Albion Rovers and made seven appearances for Queen of the South last season. He is equally happy about coming to the Bet Butler Stadium.

He said: “I’ve been training with the team for a couple of weeks and I’m pleased to be joining officially. I’m looking forward to playing and helping the lads get to a better league position, and I’ve been impressed with the gaffer’s plans.”

Murray confirmed that had today’s game gone ahead, his new signing would have featured.

He added: “We wouldn’t have been able to sign Marc in time for the Raith game had it been on, but he would have been in the squad as a trialist, so we will need to wait until the Falkirk game next week before he can make his debut.”
