DUMBARTON boss Ian Murray was full of praise for his “gutsy” part-time squad following the match against Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday.
Commenting after a hard-fought game, the manager acknowledged weaknesses that contributed to a 3-1 defeat, but focused mainly on the determination of the display.
“They were excellent”, he said of his players.
“We were the better team in the first half, and we had a great chance to make it 2-0 to us before they came back.
“Then right at the end we also missed one that would have given us a point before Rangers hit us on the break.
“On another day we could have won this match,” Murray declared.
However, the Ibrox exertions are now in the past, and all attention with Dumbarton’s squad and staff is directed towards another big game at home against Hearts this coming weekend.
