SONS preparations for new season continue tomorrow with the visit of Clydebank FC to the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium.
Dumbarton opened their pre-season account with a 2-0 win against Hearts on July 9th, but have since stuttered with two closed-door defeats.
However, manager Stevie Aitken is still pleased at how things are working out so far.
He commented: “Both closed doors games were exercises in fitness, and while it would have been good to get wins, I’m not overly upset at the results.
“We’ve packed a lot of training into the schedule so far and games are now what we need.”
The manager is looking for a productive game against local junior rival Clydebank as his squad prepare for the new season.
“We are now preparing for the Petrofac Cup tie against Morton, and this is our last match before the competitive stuff starts, so I’ll be looking at how things work out,” he said.
“I’m also looking forward to playing at home again, as I enjoyed the Hearts game, with the great backing we all received from the fans.”
A full-colour, 16-page programme is available for the home match against Clydebank on Saturday (pictured), thanks to the endeavours of the Sonstrust media team. If you miss it, our matchday programmes are often available on eBay (Sons1872).
