SONS boss Stevie Aitken faces a busy week with possible additions to his squad now that the winter transfer window is open.
Following the news that Wullie Gibson and Scott Brown have moved to pastures new, Stevie is looking to boost the playing staff, with hopefully some positive news very soon.
He said : “I’m disappointed that we had to let Wullie (Gibson) go, but in the end it was best for both parties.
“He has a new job and travelling was becoming an issue and after talking to him, it was the right thing for him to leave.
“I wish him all the best at Stranraer where I’m sure he’ll do well.”
The manager confirmed too that striker Stevie Ross is no longer part of his plans.
“Stevie’s situation relating to travelling was proving difficult, so we’ve agreed to part company and we are awaiting final confirmation of this in terms of paperwork.
“Gordon Smith’s loan period at Cowdenbeath ends next week and I’ve spoken with the player and he has options to pursue.”
Looking forward, Stevie is hopeful that he will be in a position to announce signings, but advises that things are never straightforward.
“We know what we want to do and we are working hard to get deals done and this includes existing squad members whose deals are due to expire.
“Patience is the key.”
