DFC’S Chief Executive Gilber Lawrie was a frustrated man when we caught up with him this afternoon to get his reaction to the latest postponement.

Tomorrow afternoon’s clash with Livingston was called off at 2.30pm today with the Bet Butler Stadium pitch declared unfit by the match referee.

And Gilbert shares the irritation voiced by Dumbarton fans via the various forums.

He said : “I fully inderstand how everyone is feeling.

“It’s very frustrating, but it was the right decision made by the officials today.

“The pitch is rock hard and despite the forecasted rise in overnight temperatures to around 3 degrees it’s the time period that causes the problem.

“We’ll need at least 48 hours of positive tempartures and in reality at 5 degrees above freezing to help dissipate the deep frost that has gripped our pitch.

“In the ref’s view the condition of the pitch would not have changed significantly overnight so the game was cancelled.”

Sons now wait to see if the surface recovers in time for the Scottish Cup tie with Hamilton Accies, pencilled in for Monday 17th December.
