FOUR GOAL SONS STUN RAITH

Wednesday 27th March 2013

A FANTASTIC second half fight-back by Dumbarton secured a vital 4-2 victory over Raith Rovers in a pulsating game at the Bet Butler Stadium this evening.

In the first half Sons often enjoyed good possession and the better of the play, but defensive slips let Rovers take a two goal lead thanks to strikes from Greig Spence (4 minutes) and Grant Anderson (25 minutes).

The game began to turn around when Jim Lister got Dumbarton back into the game at 1-2 ten minutes before the break. Then the second 45 minutes burst into life again, with chances for both teams in a fast paced, end-to-end match.

It was Jim Lister, unsurprisingly named Sonstrust Man of the Match, who was Dumbarton’s hero. On 64 minutes he converted a great cross from Paul McGinn to level the score at 2-2.

Six minutes later a penalty for Sons was ferociously converted by Scott Agnew to make it 3-2, before Lister killed the game on 84 minutes to claim his hat-trick and give Dumbarton a deserved 4-2 win.

The second victory in five days propels Sons into a double-header against Hamilton Accies with renewed confidence and momentum.
