Match Report

We headed back on the road this afternoon in William Hill League 2 action in a ‘Clash of the Castles’ away to Stirling Albion at Forthbank Stadium. Stevie Farrell and his side looking to return to winning ways after three matches without a victory.

The gaffer made _ changes from last weeks defeat to Stranraer at the Marbill Coaches Stadium, with Ally Roy, Scott Tomlinson and captain Mark Durnan dropping out, the skipper via illness, and Aron Lynas, Ryan Blair and Tony Wallace coming into the starting 11.

The hosts got us underway at a windswept FK7 but the first chance fell to the Sons, a Ryan Blair corner landed on the head of Morgyn Neill who bounced his effort off the ground and into the post.

We would open the scoring a third of the way into the half. Kristian Webster played a pinpoint through ball to Scott Honeyman, who took it in his stride and calmly slotted past Binos goalie Derek Gaston.

Honeyman and Leighton McIntosh would have efforts to add a second, but the hosts would level before the interval, Ryan Shanley finding space after challenges from Lynas and Webster to slot past Shay Kelly to square the game at the break.

Chances in the second half would be few and far between. Former Sons forward Russell McLean would test Kelly with an overhead kick before Kelly made an excellent diving save to deny Shanley.

But once again we would be behind, a Morgyn Neill hand ball was penalised with a spot kick for the fourth consecutive match. Kelly would guess correctly but was unable to reach Ross Cunningham’s strike as we fell behind.

We would make two changes after the goal to try and get back into the match with Chris Johnston and Gordon Walker coming on.

Walker would make an immediate impact, a short corner to Adam Livingstone was crossed into the back post where the Irish defender was waiting, heading it home with his first touch since coming on.

Morgyn Neill would go close to a Sons winner at the back post near the end but it would finish all square. The Sons heading home with a hard fought away point.
