Match Report

A late goal from Scott Honeyman earned Dumbarton a well deserved point against East Fife in the KDM Evolution Trophy this afternoon.

Tony Wallace missed an early penalty for Sons and they were made to pay when Nathan Austin flicked home the opener on 34 minutes.

Ollie Ecrepont made a couple of stops to keep the hosts from adding to their tally in the second period but the visitors grew into the game as the half went on.

Honeyman and Dom Docherty came close before substitute Scott Tomlinson had the best opportunity when he raced through on goal but lofted his effort over the bar.

The visitors ended the game brightly and finally got their reward when Honeyman was on hand to force the ball over the line from close range.

Dumbarton have seven points from their three games in the competition so far and look well placed to progress to the next round at the halfway point.

Sons are back on league duty next weekend with a trip to Forfar Athletic.
