A second-half equaliser from Scott Honeyman earned Dumbarton a point against Elgin City this afternoon.

Josh Walker nearly put the away side in the opening few minutes but his strike from the edge of the box crashed off the crossbar.

Sons slowly came back into the game by getting into good areas but failed to test the goalkeeper before Elgin went ahead when Walker picked out the bottom corner from the left side of the penalty area.

The second period followed a similar theme until Dumbarton found the equaliser when Honeyman met a low cross from Leighton McIntosh to bring his side level.

The hosts were holding on towards the end and Elgin nearly won it when a free-kick from Oliver McDonald looked set for the bottom corner only for Shay Kelly to get across goal and tip the ball wide.

The result extends Sons unbeaten run to five matches ahead of the trip to Annan Athletic next weekend.
