Dumbarton host Inverness Caledonian Thistle this evening in their first competitive fixture at The Rock of the season.
Sons come into the Viaplay Cup clash on the back of a narrow 2-0 defeat at Airdrie on Saturday whilst lasts seasons Scottish Cup runners-up recorded a 2-1 win over Bonnyrigg Rose.
Stevie Farrell’s side became undone by two goals in the final minutes against the Championship side but he insists there were plenty of positives to take out of the game.
He said: “On Saturday we went to a team that were renowned for sweeping teams in League One last season away and for 85 minutes we went toe to toe and were every bit as good.
“We were brave in possession, passed the ball really well and created a lot of chances. The one frustration is that we didn’t get a goal and that’s still the bit I think will come with us.
“We’ll change the team around for tonight because we want to use the full squad and we want everybody in the squad to be ready for the first league game.
“We’re going to mix it up over the four games to make sure everybody is given an understanding of how we want to play and everybody has an understanding of the fitness levels that are required to play.
“It’s the first home game for the fans and we’ll certainly go out and try and win it.”
Faz will remain without Kalvin Orsi, Blair Malcolm and Callum Wilson this evening whilst it is hoped Finlay Gray has shaken off a recent illness.
