DUMBARTON’S first match of 2022 takes place on Sunday with a visit from high-flying Airdrieonians to the Moreroom.com Stadium in a fixture which has a 1.30pm kick-off.
With the teams’ previous two meetings this season having been closely-fought, Sons are hopeful that this time they will be the ones edging it.
Having had the Boxing Day game away to Queen’s Park postponed, Dumbarton are at home for a third consecutive matchday.
And manager Stevie Farrell hopes that a new calendar year can bring new home form, with Sons needing to improve the number of points taken on their own pitch.
He said: “Results at home have not been what we hoped they would be in recent matches and we must look to take more points there.
“But it will not be easy. Airdrieonians had an excellent result at home to Queen’s Park in midweek and will come to us looking to build on that.
“In our two previous games with them we have shown that we are capable of competing with them and I expect us to do that again on Sunday.
“We certainly will need to compete with them well to give ourselves a chance of a result.”
The long-term injured pair of Ryan McGeever and Kristoffer Syvertsen will again miss out, and Stuart Carswell won’t figure either.
Season ticket holders will be able to sit in their own seat, and food kiosks will be open as usual. However, Bar 72 will not be open.
Supporters due to attend the game should have received an email from the club to confirm their attendance. If you have not received this email, please contact the club.
Please ensure that a face mask is worn in indoor areas, and you are encouraged to take a lateral flow test before arrival at the stadium.
If you are unable to attend the game, then live streaming is available as per our previous story. There will also be live Twitter commentary on our feed @DumbartonFC.
Steven Kirkland is the referee for tomorrow’s game, and will have assistance from John McCrossan and Brian Christie.
