AN excellent, battling performance in both halves secured Dumbarton a deserved three points from their 2-1 victory away at Falkirk this afternoon.
Garry Fleming, scoring with just seven minutes gone, and Mitch Megginson (pictured), with a beautifully taken goal on 24 minutes, were among the first half heroes for Sons.
Phil Roberts pulled one back for the Bairns on 39 minutes. His shot into the top corner was unstoppable, but it was virtually the only chance the home side made in the opening 45 minutes, thanks not least to some solid defending by Dumbarton.
Falkirk really piled on the pressure after the break. Sons rode their luck as a series of chances went perilously close for the Bairns, including one effort that clattered down off the crossbar.
But despite a nervy last 20 minutes, Dumbarton stayed focussed and held on to claim another important away win. Roberts was red-carded for Falkirk right at the end.
Sons remain in sixth position in the Scottish Championship. They now face consecutive home League and Cup games against Cowdenbeath, the first being at the Bet Butler Stadium next Saturday, 26th October.
