KEVIN DABROWSKI already knew about Dumbarton’s history before he put his foot through the door.
A mutually familiar face made sure of it.
Jack Ross has been away from Sons for more than six years now, but to this day the club has things to thank him for.
As a result of his experience as assistant to Alan Adamson and Ian Murray, the Hibs gaffer knew where he wanted his young goalkeeper to go on loan.
And after one training session, Kevin is already hooked on his new club.
He will be a Dumbarton player for the full 2020/21 campaign, and has already been impressed by what he has seen from his new team-mates.
Not just in terms of how they play football, but by the team spirit on show – weeks before a competitive ball is kicked.
Speaking to www.dumbartonfootballclub.com, Kevin said:” I’m absolutely happy. In my opinion, coming to Dumbarton will be a very good opportunity for me to get good experience and as many games as possible.
“The quality of training was good. The manager is very well respected and has managed teams at the top level in Scotland, and has big knowledge about football.
“The players are looking sharp too. I could tell that they were working hard even before pre-season, during the pandemic.
“They seem a good bunch of boys. Rather than separate groups, they are one big team, and that will be good for us to fight for the top of the league.
“He (Ross) said to me that Dumbarton is a very well respected team with a good history, and that it would be a good opportunity for me to play games.
“I just can’t wait to get started.”

Kevin has been out on loan before, most recently with Cowdenbeath, where he kept six clean sheets in 18 games last season.
And although a Betfred Cup tie with Hearts wasn’t one of the shut-outs (Cowden lost 2-0), it readied him for a successful time at Central Park.
He added: “It was a really good experience for me. I have to say I was very busy, so that was good for me in terms of shot-stopping. Every game, I had so much to do.
“It was great experience for me to play against Hearts, where I did quite well and was man of the match. That was at the beginning of my spell with Cowdenbeath so that prepared me.
“It also gave me confidence to play games as well as I can against all the best teams, whether they are in the Premiership, League Two or League One.”
