AFTER over six months, Dumbarton have returned to playing matches, starting away to Clydebank tonight in a fixture they won 4-0.
A trialist – one of three starting the match – opened the scoring just after the midway point in the first half, running through to slot past the keeper.
Ten minutes into the second half, with changes having been made by Sons, the same trialist finished again to make it 2-0.
Just after the hour mark Denny Johnstone (pictured) made it 3-0, rounding off some good play with a precise shot from outside the box.
And closing in on full time, Johnstone got his second and Dumbarton’s fourth, heading home a PJ Crossan assist.
All 13 signed players got some game time, as well as the three outfield trialists and a trialist goalkeeper who came on in the second half.
Dumbarton will continue to play friendly matches in the build-up to the first competitive fixture, at home to Dunfermline Athletic in the Betfred Cup on Tuesday, October 6.
All friendly matches are being played strictly behind closed doors and no details of them will be published in advance.
