DUMBARTON’S second consecutive home game at the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium has St Mirren as visitors this weekend.
Last season’s meetings with Saints resulted in two wins and two losses in the four Ladbrokes SPFL Championship encounters.
The results were: Saturday 15th August 2015 – St Mirren 1 Dumbarton 2; Saturday 12th December 2015 – Dumbarton 1 St Mirren 0; Saturday 20th February 2016 – St Mirren 1 Dumbarton 0; and Saturday 23rd April 2016 – Dumbarton 2 St Mirren 1.
On current form Sons have lost two of their last three league games and sit sixth in the division, whilst the Buddies are bottom of the league with two points. It’s therefore a crunch game for both clubs.
Dumbarton are looking forward to welcoming Singer 04 Community FC as guests at Saturday’s match against St Mirren as part of the community tickets scheme.
Reflecting on last week’s narrow loss to Hibs, Sons boss Stevie Aitken said: “tWhile we were disappointed by the result, I felt that the overall performance was a positive one against Hibs. We matched them for long spells of the match and after a cautious start we had chances to put them under pressure.”
Looking ahead to the visit of St Mirren, he said: “We’re looking forward to this game and it’s an important fixture even this early in the campaign.”
In tears news Frazer Wright is approaching full fitness meaning that with no other injuries or suspensions, manager Stevie Aitken has a full squad to choose from.
Assistant manager Stevie Farrell will be available to take his usual place in the dug-out.
