DUMBARTON return from a week’s break tomorrow with a tough test at home to Ayr United which is vital in the battle for survival.
It is a contest made in France, as both sides will be relying on a striker born on the other side of the Channel for goals. While Christian Nade (pictured) is hoped to continue his recent good form for Dumbarton, Ayr will hand a debut to French-born Moroccan striker Farid El Alagui, recently signed from Dunfermline. He scored three goals against Sons during his days with Hibernian.
With so much at stake, tomorrow is ‘Le Crunch’ for Sons and the Honest Men.
It is also a chance for Dumbarton to post their first win over Ayr this season. The first meeting, at the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium on Saturday, October 15, was lost 3-0. When the sides clashed at Somerset Park on Saturday, December 24, it was one of the games of the season, with the teams drawing 4-4. Sons fought back from a losing position three times to take a point.
Dumbarton, having had a week off last week due to the Scottish Cup, have only long-term injury victim Grant Gallagher missing. The players have enjoyed a mini-break with no match action and are looking forward to returning to business.
Copies of matchday programme ‘Sons View’ will be available priced £2.50 at tomorrow’s game. Twitter updates will be available @dumbartonfc with confirmed team news online from approximately 2pm.
