SONS start the second quarter of their 2106/17 Ladbrokes Championship campaign with a visit to Tannadice to play Dundee United this weekend.
Dumbarton’s only league victory of the season came against United way back in August, thanks to a Mark Docherty penalty.
Manager Stevie Aitken is looking forward to the game and is looking to put the disappointment of last week’s Ayr United result behind him.
He said:”There’s no denying that the outcome last weekend was very disappointing and we deserved the criticism. We didn’t play well.
“But, throughout the week in the run up to the trip to Tannadice, the lads have responded well and we have to focus on what’s ahead.”
Looking at links between the sides, Sons striker Robert Thomson spent the majority of his youth career as an academy player with Dundee United.
After time on loan at Alloa in 2012/13, Robert returned to United and made his official first team debut in the Scottish Premier League on 9th March 2013, against St Mirren.
Craig Charleston will be the match referee. Mr Charleston will be assisted by John McCrossan and Simon MacLean.
In team news, a ligament damage is preventing Grant Gallagher from being available tomorrow and he’ll be missing at Tannadice.
With no other injuries or suspensions, the gaffer will have a full squad to choose from and he also welcomes assistant Stephen Farrell back to the dugout, with ‘Faz’ having served a one-game ban.
