DUMBARTON have been beaten 2-1 by Alloa Athletic in today’s game at the Moreroom.com Stadium, moving down to eighth in League One in the process.
They fell behind midway through the first half when ex-Sons forward Kevin Cawley scored for the Wasps with a close range finish.
But Paul Paton (pictured) got them level right on half time with a finely-struck shot from 20 yards.
On a pitch showing obvious signs of the week’s severe weather, chances were at a premium before Alloa won the game with nine minutes left.
A slack concession of the ball allowed Adam King a shot at an open goal from a narrow angle, which he snapped up.
The only small mercy for Dumbarton was that they remain two points ahead of ninth-placed Peterhead, who lost 1-0 at home to Airdrieonians.
It is Peterhead who Sons face next, away from home next Saturday.
