DUMBARTON LOOKING TO SPOIL THE PARTY

Friday 22nd April 2022

DUMBARTON travel to Aberdeen to visit Cove Rangers in the final away game of the scheduled season tomorrow, with the chance to stop the home side clinching the cinch League One championship.

A home victory will ensure that Cove are presented with the silverware after the game. They may not even need anything from the game, if Airdrieonians do not win away to Clyde.

Sons gaffer Stevie Farrell, though, is aware that they will want to finish the job through their own efforts and register a third victory over Dumbarton this season.

But although much of the attention will be on the home side, the manager hopes that Sons can create headlines of their own.

He said: “The spotlight will of course be on Cove tomorrow as they wait to see if they are champions after leading the division for so long.

“They have done that on merit, but we have shown we can compete with them at stages this season and I expect to see the same again.

“We don’t want to make such a long journey and just be bystanders. Although our league position is now decided we must go out and compete.

“If Cove are to be celebrating after the final whistle tomorrow, we must ensure they do it having been worked and pushed hard all the way.”

Ryan McGeever and Adam Hutchinson remain out injured for Dumbarton. Sam Ramsbottom has also sustained an injury at work, so Paddy O’Neill has been recalled from his loan at Troon and is likely to be substitute goalkeeper.

If you are making the journey tomorrow, advance tickets can be bought ahead of the game, costing only £10 for adults.

If you are unable to attend, then live streaming.

We will also have in-play Twitter commentary on our feed @dumbartonfc.

Lorraine Watson will referee tomorrow’s game, with assistance from Alastair Mather and Billy Baxter.
