DUMBARTON LOOK TO PUSH FORWARD

Friday 25th October 2019

DUMBARTON are looking to build on recent positive results when they welcome Peterhead to the C&G Systems Stadium tomorrow.

It was a victory over the Blue Toon at Balmoor two months ago that turned the season in a positive direction for Jim Duffy’s team, and another such result tomorrow would provide another boost.

Having drawn 0-0 at Stranraer last week, Sons are still undefeated away from home since mid-August.

They are now looking to post more points on their own pitch, where their last outing resulted in a 3-1 victory over Forfar Athletic three weeks ago.

The manager said: “Last week’s game was a frustrating but reasonably successful 90 minutes. We knew Stranraer would be tough to play against, especially on their pitch.

“We now return to our own arena tomorrow and, although we know the challenge we face from Peterhead, it is a game we know is important.

“If we are to realise our ambitions this season, our home record must be strong. We made a start towards this by beating Forfar and we must aim to keep that going.

“There are many possibilities open to us this season and we must continue to work to ensure we are competing as close to the sharp end of the table as possible.”

The gaffer will once again check on the fitness of Ryan McGeever and Jordan McMillan (pictured) before the game. McGeever was involved in the warm-up at Stair Park last week and it is hoped that his return is not far away.

Steven Kirkland is in charge of tomorrow’s game, with assistance from Joseph Lawson and Michael McCart.

All fans should enter the stadium via the east turnstiles tomorrow and will have access to Bar 72 before the game. Please see our previous story for details of what’s going on in the bar.

Copies of the club’s award-winning matchday programme, Sons View, will be available priced £2.50.
