DUMBARTON LOOK TO CHALLENGE LEADERS

Friday 20th December 2019

AFTER a huge injection of morale with last week’s win at Forfar Athletic, Dumbarton are on the road again tomorrow to face leaders Raith Rovers.

The test at Kirkcaldy will be another stern one as Sons face Rovers for the first time since the season’s opening day.

But with a positive ethos around the club after last week’s dramatic victory, manager Jim Duffy hopes to use that to Dumbarton’s advantage.

He said: “There were really positive vibes on our journey home last week, and in training, and hopefully that translates into another result tomorrow.

“We lost some disappointing goals in last week’s game and we’ve been working hard this week to cut out the mistakes.

“Raith Rovers sit top of the league and will be out to show why they are there.

“But when we last played them we felt hard done by to come away with nothing and if we apply ourselves as we can, we have every chance tomorrow.”

Any result tomorrow will have to be obtained without the services of top scorer Isaac Layne.

The striker has not recovered sufficiently from the injury sustained at Forfar and is set to miss out.

However, everybody else has trained this week and Stefan McCluskey could return after being absent from the bench last week.

Referee Alan Muir is in charge of this game, with assistance from Graeme Leslie and Steven McKay.

For those who can’t make it to Stark’s Park, there will be in-play Twitter commentary on our feed @dumbartonfc.

There is no Sons Supporters Trust bus.
