DUMBARTON LOOK FOR ANOTHER WIN

Tuesday 3rd March 2020

WITH the buzz of Saturday’s injury time winner still fresh, Dumbarton are back in match action tonight as Forfar Athletic visit the C&G Systems Stadium.

Victories over Clyde and Raith Rovers have put a bit of daylight between Sons and the ninth-placed Loons as the final quarter of the season approaches.

In fact, Dumbarton are fewer points away from third place than from ninth – but there is still work to be done.

And that is a message manager Jim Duffy will be delivering in no uncertain terms to his players ahead of another important 90 minutes this evening.

He said: “It was a glorious way to secure an excellent victory on Saturday – but it is now in the past.

“Tonight is another challenge and we must knuckle down and give nothing less than 100 per cent against Forfar.

“Our opponents are fighting to get out of the bottom two and will need little more motivation than that ahead of playing us.

“I will be looking for the same endeavour and workrate as I have seen from the players in the last couple of games. If we do that we’ll give ourselves every chance of a third victory in a row.”

Although Kyle Hutton is the only definite absentee tonight, the late rally to beat Raith Rovers left some players drained on Saturday evening.

Players who started on the bench against Rovers, such as Ross Forbes, Isaac Layne and Jai Quitongo, could come into contention to start tonight.

And Forbes will hope to make it a double celebration if he does play – as it’s his 31st birthday today! Everybody at DFC wishes him well.

Barry Cook is refereeing his fourth game at the C&G Systems Stadium this season tonight, and will be assisted by Michael Banks and Steven MacDonald.

All fans should enter the stadium via the east turnstiles (nearest Castle Road). Bar 72 will be open for everybody, and Forfar fans will be taken through to the away end before kick-off.

Our award-winning matchday programme, Sons View, will be on sale tonight priced £2.50. With little to update, it will be the same issue as was produced for the game’s original date only 10 days ago.

Kick-off is at 7.45pm and we look forward to seeing all our supporters there.
